PeGAS – antibiotic resistance surveillance of the main pathogens causing URTI


The first multicenter prospective study of the antibiotic resistance in S.pneumoniae, H.influenzae and S.pyogenes in Russia was started in 1998. It involves 17 participating microbiological laboratories in various regions of Russia including Moscow (5 centers), St-Petersburg, Kazan, Ekaterinburg (2 centers), Omsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnodar, Smolensk, N-Novgorod, Ryazan.

Re-identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing according to NCCLS are carried out in the reference laboratory (Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Smolensk).
